Brake lights are a crucial part of the taillight system. When the driver presses the brake pedal, the brake lights illuminate immediately and are typically brighter than regular taillights, allowing following vehicles to quickly see that the vehicle ahead is slowing down.
While driving on the road, maintaining a safe distance between vehicles is essential, but distance alone is not enough. If the vehicle in front brakes suddenly and the driver of the following vehicle does not notice in time, a rear-end collision may occur. Therefore, fast-responding and normally bright brake lights can buy valuable reaction time for drivers behind.
When driving daily, have a family member stand behind the car to observe the lights and check if both brake lights are working properly. If one brake light is not working, flickers abnormally, or its brightness is significantly reduced, it should be repaired or replaced as soon as possible.
